Rome 2011

Day Four – Paris / travel /Rome –Wednesday October 25th

Today we got to sleep in because the flight was not until 11 or 12. We had another nice breakfast of croissants, and Starbucks. Then we had a nice flight and then we got to Rome we took a shuttle bus to the train station were we either were going to walk or to take a taxi to the hotel. We took a taxi but the driver ripped us off. We paid more than we did when we left. It was another long day.

Day one –Rome –Thursday October 26th

Today we got up kind of early but we were still very tired because even though we went to bed late the cars outside kept us up a lot. Today we went to Vatican City! It is really cool it is considered a different city than Rome even though it is very tiny to be a city. We got a guided tour and the guide was awesome but they said that the tour was going to be 2 hours max of 2 hours 45 min but it took 4 hours and almost 4 and half hours. It was really good though.  Then we went out for lunch and we were starving!! After lunch we went back to the room but instead of staying just for a little break we ended up stay for along time and we all fell asleep. Then we went to se the Spanish steps, and the Trevi fountain and other things that we came apron when we were walking around. When we got to the Spanish steeps we realized that we forgot the camera back at the hotel L. Then we found a nice place for dinner and had another fairly early night.

Day two –Rome –Friday October 27th

Today we got up at a normal time and went to see the coliseum. Since we liked our tour so much yesterday we got another one today. It wasn’t as good because the tour guide let her daughter play with her microphone so it didn’t work and we couldn’t really hear her. But it coliseum was very nice. It is really big and cool. The tour ended quickly but in the price there was a tour of the pantheon. We went on that tour and our guide was amazing.  He was very funny too! Then in the afternoon we decided to go to a big park, we decided that we would try the subway to get there. The subway was so full that we waited for 3 trains to go by until we actually got on one! When we got to the park there were rowboats so Flora, Isla and I went on one. It was really fun since that none of us can really row. Then we walked around a bit then went for dinner. Then we walked to the hotel room and had to start to pack because it was our last day in Rome.  We had an early night because we had to get up a 6 am the next morning.

Day three –Rome/ travel day / Paris–Saturday October 29th

Today we got up really early and went outside to wait for our taxi. When he didn’t show up on time we all started to worry especially Christine. Finally some guy came across the street and he ended up being our taxi driver. The drive to the airport was supposed to take 40 to 45 minutes but it only took us like 20. I also didn’t have a seat belt. When we got there we had to wait in line to check our baggage then we had to wait in a huge line to get through security\y. we though we had only 20 minutes to get through this line and it took us half an hour. People kept on jumping the line it was really annoying. When we finally got through we rushed to the gate which hadn’t event opened yet so we got some breakfast finally. When we were on the plane there was some Italian guy who went into the bathroom and started to smoke. He was getting in so much trouble but he kept on denying it, even when the threated for the police to pick him up at the gate. The whole back of the plane smelled of smoke. It was really gross. We landed in Paris because there were no direct flights. We were in Paris for 5 hours. It felt like forever. Thank goodness for the free Wi-Fi. Then we had a flight back to Newcastle with more than 15 toddlers on the whole fight. We got as far away from them as we could. When we arrived in Newcastle I didn’t have any trouble getting through security. It was a very long day.

Paris day 3

Day 3 –Paris –Tuesday October 24th
This morning we got up a bit early but it wasn’t bad. We left nice and early to go to Disney land. We took the subway, we had many changeovers and most of the time we had to stand because there were so many people.  We started at the side with more rides. We were not sure what ride to do fist so we chose one that was considered high thrill. It was the scariest ride in the whole of the park but it wasn’t that bad at all. Then we go what was called fast track passes that let us skip most of the lines. They were free and it meant that you had to go at a certain time, and you were only supposed to have one at a time but we had about three at a time. We went to almost all the rides except for the kiddy rides and then in the evening we went to their other park. They had less rides and when we were walking around to look for a ride it started to rain really hard but we had a rain coats but ended getting soaked any ways.  It was then really cold so instead of rides we went to watch some shows the first one was good but the second one that we waited over 30minutes for sucked. They wanted us to act but none of us wanted to so we just left. Then we went on our fist kiddy ride of the day. It was like tea cups but it was with cars out of the movie cars. The people that went on it were little toddlers and their parents. We were by far the oldest kids that went on it. It was really fin though.  Then we had like 10 miutes before this park closed and we decided to go on another kiddy ride from Alden.  Then the park closed and we went back to the hotel and that was the end of our day.

Paris day 1,2

Day 1 –Paris –Saturday 22nd

Last night we arrived in Paris and went straight to our hotel…the best western. We are in what is called the “garden”…this so called garden is made of complete plastic, its quite funny. We went for dinner at a restaurant that I am not sure of the name but the only reason we went was because we stopped to look at the menu and some waiter came out and made us come in…. we learned to keep walking and not to stop to look at menus. The food was okay but not amazing. After dinner we walked around for a bit and then realized that we were walking strait for the Eiffel tower. We quickly went back to the hotel to get out cameras and then went to the Eiffel tower.

Day 2 –Paris –Sunday 23rd
Today we got early and all had showers. Christine and Isla went out to get breakfast, which was croissants, croissants with chocolate in it, Starbucks, and orange juice. The croissants we fresh and still warm it was really good. Then we went out and walked around Paris for a bit looking for a boat that would go around the river sein that we could get on and off at different stops. After we along the river for along time we found one. The first place we were going to was Notre Dame. On the way there we came across this bridge, it had thousands of pad locks locked on it with the name of two people. We were very confused by it so when we got home we found out it was where people would take a pad lock, write there names on it and put it on the bridge to symbolize their ever ending love. Then we got to the Notre Dame, it was very pretty. After Notre Dame we went to see the flower and bird market. The tourist book made it seem a lot better than it actually was, especially the bird market because it seemed cruel. There were small cages with lots of bird in it or a small cage with two to three large birds. We then went for lunch and then got back on the boat to go and see Louvre. Louvre is the largest art museum in the world. It is home of the Mona Lisa and many other famous art pieces.

After we got back on the boat and went down to got to the museĆ© d’osay. Unfortunately we didn’t get to go in because it was closed due to strikes. We then decided to go back to the hotel but did not want to go along the river. Instead we went through town and ended up getting lost. It wasn’t to bad because the weather was really nice. After resting for a bit in the hotel we went out for dinner. We tried a different place the waiter again was very scary but the food was nicer. We then came back to the hotel to get ready for bed but then found out that our toilet was broken. We told the man at the front desk but he didn’t know what to do so we asked if we could move rooms. Since there were no more rooms of four we got two rooms of two. They were okay but they were on the main street so we could hear the cars go past all night. None of us got a good sleep.

sorry there are no pictures because they wouldn't copy from word.
